How much does CSM certification cost?

CSM certification costs $349 to $549 in the US. That fee covers a 2-day instructor-led class, exam access, and a 2-year membership with the Scrum Alliance.

What's Included in CSM Certification Cost

You get 16 hours of instruction from a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), access to the CSM exam (50 multiple-choice questions), and two years of Scrum Alliance membership. Most people pass on the first attempt. If you don't, the first two retakes are included in your registration fee.

Exam Retakes and Additional Fees

After your two included attempts, each additional exam retake costs $25. So if you're someone who needs three or four shots at it, budget an extra $25 to $50.

Renewal is separate. Every two years, you'll need 20 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay a $100 renewal fee to keep your certification active. SEUs come from taking additional Scrum Alliance courses, attending conferences, or contributing to the community.
