What is a PMP certification?
A PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a globally recognized credential awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It validates a project manager's ability to lead and direct projects.
To qualify, candidates must meet specific educational and experience requirements:
- 36 months of project leadership experience for those with a bachelor’s degree
- 60 months for those without a bachelor’s
- 35 contact hours of formal project management education
The certification exam consists of 180 questions, which must be completed in 230 minutes, including two scheduled 10-minute breaks.
In our experience, obtaining a PMP certification can significantly enhance a project manager's career opportunities. However, it requires a commitment to study and understanding of project management principles.
