You'll get CSPO certification by completing a 2-day instructor-led course with a Scrum Alliance Licensed Training Provider, then receiving instructor sign-off. There's no exam. The whole thing costs $349 to $499 and includes a 2-year Scrum Alliance membership.

The three steps

1. Pick a training provider

Find a Scrum Alliance Licensed Training Provider. We've trained over 55,000 practitioners since 2001, and our Certified Scrum Trainers (CSTs) run CSPO courses regularly. Your provider handles all the paperwork with Scrum Alliance.

2. Attend the 2-day course

Full attendance is non-negotiable. You'll spend two days learning how Product Owners actually work in Scrum teams, how to write user stories that developers can actually build, how to manage a backlog under real constraints, and how to work with your Scrum Master and development team. It's not a lecture series. It's hands-on.

3. Get certified

After the course ends and your instructor confirms you were there and engaged, Scrum Alliance awards the certification. You'll get access to the CSPO credential to use on LinkedIn and your resume.

What the $349–$499 covers

The course fee includes the 2-day training, instructor materials, and automatic enrollment in a 2-year Scrum Alliance membership. That membership gives you access to SEU (Scrum Education Unit) opportunities and the credential itself. You don't pay Scrum Alliance separately at the start.

Keeping your certification current

CSPO certification expires after two years. To renew, you'll need to earn 20 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay a renewal fee to Scrum Alliance. SEUs come from attending other Scrum Alliance courses, workshops, or approved training events. Most Product Owners renew by taking an advanced course or attending a conference session.
